To lie or to not lie

Lying is a sin, but all rules are meant to be broken. Sometimes you have to lie to save your life or save someone else's. Lying should only come in life or death situations but other little situations, lying can be greatly avoided. If the lies you are telling can depended on the physical health of you or someone else's then you have to do what you have to do. To lie to advance yourself in a situation or for your own personal gain is not right. It may be beneficial to one but if roles were switched it would not be fair. Even though lying may be fair in some situations the truth will always come out one way or another. Protecting someone's feelings about a certain subject and then the subject gets passed on and talked about the truth may slowly creep back up. For example, if one of my friends asked me how they did on something whether it was a game or something they learned,I wouldn't try and tell them the cold hard truth and make them feel bad I would encourage them saying that they could do better but I think lies like that are fine because you're not really lying you're just trying to put it in a better way. Lies like that could be acceptable in any way as long as you know that words after are to be encouraging and not too much false. So to summarize what I'm trying to say, white lies are acceptable.
